| The Battle of ADWA March 1, 1896 |
| As early as 1896, Ethiopia remained the last free nation on continental Africa that had never been colonized by Europeans. When Ethiopia won the Battle of Adwa on March 1, 1896, Ethiopia became the First African nation to ever win a major military victory over a powerful European colonizer... Colonial Italy under-estimated Ethiopian military genesis and strategic skill, arrogantly believing that Black Ethiopioans would never win a major battle over the "superior" European race... but Ethiopia was victorious and such a victory for Black Africa during the time of European expansionism, global colonization and the redistribution of the world's wealth encouraged the African Diaspora's dreams of liberation from brutal oppressive colonizers. Blacks in America and the Caribbean thus perceived the Ethiopian Victory at Adwa as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. |
